CSIRO’s Ecosystem Sciences (CES) is growing its capacity to engage in international research for development. Through the Environment and Development Team in the Social and Economic Sciences Program, its scientists are engaging with Australian, other international and in-country government

and non-government partners to address critical issues about the future of developing countries in collaboration with in-country partners.

Research projects designed to tackle these questions are typically large and complex, involving teams of multi-disciplinary scientists, large budgets, high transaction costs and intensive communication with Australian and international collaborators.
To build its capacity, the Social and Economic Sciences Program is seeking to employ a Research Projects Officer to join the Environment and Development Team in Brisbane. This role would provide additional skills in data collection and analysis, and planning, coordinating, communicating and managing complex research projects in regions including South-East Asia, the Pacific, South Asia and Africa.

Location: Queensland Ecosciences Precinct, Dutton Park, Brisbane, Australia

Salary: $89K – $96K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Indefinite

The successful candidate will have experience of working in international research, development or aid, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be flexible enough to support members of several projects simultaneously. Experience of organising participatory processes, engaging and reporting to government and other stakeholders, and language skills are also important.
