4 PhD and PostDoc Positions in Energy & Climate Policy — Chalmers University

Deadline: 08 April 2024
Position: 4 PhD and PostDoc positions
Location: Chalmers University (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Chalmers University is recruiting four PhD and PostDoc positions in energy and climate policy:

One PhD or Postdoc in the economics and policy of energy transitions. Despite the dramatic cost declines of solar and wind power, they are both growing too slowly compared to what we need for climate targets. Is this because of market failures, technology shortcomings or political obstacles? A new position tackles this question through examining how the interplay of energy technologies, economics and policies either drive or constrain the growth of clean energy technologies.

One PhD or Postdoc in interdisciplinary climate policy modelingAre you interested in how household consumption can affect greenhouse gas emissions in the future? This position will give you the opportunity to explore global climate scenarios and how they relate to future household consumption, at the national level and for different societal groups.

Two PhD positions in energy systems analysis. The evolving energy paradigm is on the brink of transformation, with solar, wind, biomass, hydrogen, and storage technologies reshaping the global energy mix. At this pivotal juncture, critical questions emerge such as how to manage energy systems under extreme weather events, deal with carbon capture and storage, address public opposition, and anticipate evolving trade patterns.

All positions are based in the Physical Resource Theory Division at Chalmers University based in Gothenburg, Sweden. You join an exciting and cutting-edge research environment with colleagues from around the world and trained in several disciplines – all focusing on transitions to a sustainable future. Come work with us!

They will begin reviewing applications April 8th.
